afinch - Wow, that's a cool video. It's especially tough outdoors, where there are so many distractions and wonderful things to explore!

Do you still have your sun conure?

Thanks MiaCarter :) It took a lot of training and incremental build up to get to the point where I could fly her outside without her being too distracted to recall and respond to my commands. We started at home, then at the gym, then harness at the park, and so on until she became sufficiently acclimated to being outside.

Unfortunately I no longer have her. I had to part ways with her about 2 years ago. Now she lives happily at a friend's house. She's no longer that disciplined. Just happily paired up with a sun conure boy :)

Crazy story. When I had her, I was also raising another baby conure for a friend. He accidentally got out and I lost him for a day. He was very young and got extremely overwhelmed and disoriented and couldn't muster a turn around. The second morning, I heard him calling very far in the distance. I brought Nara outside and she picked up his call and they started calling back and forth. I let her out and she went and brought him back. She was one of the best trained conures I've ever :] Too bad that's mostly gone now.

I hope I can go back to owning parrots soon. I would love to have a B&G macaw and train her the same way.

afinch -- Oh. My. Goodness.
Adorable!

I love the escape video that came on after that one!
I've had a few who could let themselves out of the cage, including a sun conure!
Too funny!

And the video of the two wrestling is so cute!

That makes me want parrots again! It's hard as I need to find the right one (or ideally, pair), who doesn't get insanely jealous of fosters!
