If they breed? The chicks will be opposite of the parents.

Silver is basically blue, so you will be breeding blue to blue
Nice bird in the pic :!:

As far as back colors, yes the offspring will be the opposite of their parents. However, as someone else pointed out, Silver to Blue is just as bad as Blue to Blue. The gene pool is so small it will create weak birds, genetically and possibly physically speaking.

Phil,

What do you recommend??
I have a green back hen that is split to blue.
She could go with the blue male
I also have a yellow back male I could put with the silver hen.

Let me know?

Personally I would set the GB/BB hen with the Blue male. If you did this then you would have to set up the Silver hen with the YB male. From the offspring you get from the 2 pairs, you can set them up to get more silver, blues, yellows, and green birds.

It's just not the best to set any blue birds with other blue birds (which includes silver) only because the gene pool associated with the BB genes is very small. I have seen perfectly healthy blue birds drop dead because they were inbred accidentally, only because the genetic pool is so small most blue birds are related in some way.

I know they are not relatederry
but the two breeders have
shared their stock with each other.
So they could be cousins,
or related in some way?

Thank you for the info!
I will split up the pairs.

By related I just mean that many of their genetic make-up will be the same since the Blue mutation is a very new mutation. Plus Blue birds tend to be weaker in general compared to GB or YB. To be safe, especially since they came from 2 breeders who swap birds, your best bet is to split them up. You'll be happy with the offspring and you will get more of a variety of colors as well

Done, I swapped them and I think the green green is ready to go and so is the blue male. The silver hen won't be ready for a while yet.
Thank you again, this could mean a second breeding pair tight away?
