Thought I would share some more photo's from our trip. I could quite happily quit my job and just go and photograph birds for the rest of my life, lol
Red-billed hornbill
Marabou stork - not the worlds prettiest bird
Francolin
Martial Eagle
Had to sneak another one of my little Cordon Bleu in
I was privileged to watch this pair of Fish Eagles chase off another bird. It was amazing to watch

Pied Kingfisher
Little Bee-eater
White-fronted Bee-eater
White-bellied Sunbird
Hamerkop (directly translated from Afrikaans = hammer head)

Roxanne

Wow! So lovely.
I love the hornbills! They're so cool looking! (Though those beaks look frightening, like they could lop off a few fingers! LOL)
And that little bee eater is gorgeous. So small and pretty.

Hi there Roxanne.
Can I have a 'Little Bee Eater' for Christmas? Pleeaase!
Your photography is quite lovely. Why not make a collection of your best photos, with little write ups about each particular species, and send off to a publisher??? Don't know about quitting your job as yet, but if you could get published, at least your beautiful work would be out there for people to enjoy world over.

Heck, you don't even need a publisher today!
Self-publish and keep all of the profits!
(I freelance for a living and among my offerings are e-book formatting, editing and other help with self-publishing. So I'm here if anyone ever needs a hand!)
I think you could totally make up a beautiful coffee table book on African birds and other wildlife! All you need is some great high res photos and a bit of text, with a nice layout and you're good to go!
I also googled the Little Bee Eater (even the name is cute!) and I'm totally going to snatch one up....and love him and hug him and call him George.

Rox You are good at it. I am disappointed I didn't see any pics of my favourate birds, bateleurs. I must really make a plan and do a breakaway to nature myself. I think that I must do the Fish River Canyon next winter. In today's day and age it is a bit easier to get a few good photos. You take thousands of photos and 30 to 50% are ok. Remember the days when you only had limited amount of film canisters of 36 shots and you had to take your time to get the perfect shot and most of the time missed the shot because you were to careful.

Stunning! Rox you could definitely go pro with your natural ability alone. Raven has is right too. Korhaan are not the easiest to see either.
Lovely pictures.

lovezebs MiaCarter monotwine Thanks for the support and encouragement ladies, I really do appreciate it!!! I'm not quite ready to quit my job but it's a great passion/goal to work towards one day
@MariusStegmann I remember those days all too well! I did photography in high school, back when you still had to develop film. It was definitely more of an art then but it is much cheaper now at least. My parents used to flip when I got hold of the camera and wasted the film on photo's of the pets
@Raven
Thanks for the correction! I still have a long way to go with correctly identifying wild birds. Before I started keeping my own birds, I honestly never gave the wild birds much thought. It's definitely improving though!
I'm glad everyone enjoyed the photo's
