What a cutie pie!

Post by David » Thu Sep 25, 2014 5:11 pm

Hi everyone, I'm here to uploading my zebra finch - Lianze pic (sorry I took the pic from outside his cage without stress him too much, hope you can see him well still), he's still a baby to me still even about 5months old :) he is fully grown, been eating well and healthy. I think his color looks like calico, but I think he is still so cute, do you think so too?

He is very cute. That's one thing about Zebras, they are cute looking, but sometimes  at heart.

If you want to take pictures from outside the cage, without the bars, place the lense part of your phone (if using a phone) between the bars and that space will give you enough room to take a picture. That way the birds don't get upset like if you stick your hands inside the cage.

'Lianze', is an interesting name. What nationality is that?

Lovezebs,

Thank you! I agree what you said, they looks so cute but sometime very stubborn, picky etc. 'Lianze' is kind a Chinese name, because my dad like him so much,so named him Lianze hehe. I only have one zebra finch looks like calico in color, so he is my sweetie pie.

You are right I place my ipad mini between the bars and now the pic here looks better than last post :)

You know I feel sorry for him, because I put him in a separate small cage to avoid fighting with others, he is not fighting but others hissing on him even next to him :(

Lovezebs,,

As I told you he was hissing or fighting by other finches, so even I put him in the small cage now separate from others, you can see from the pics above that I placed cardboard on both sides, this way no other birds can make any hissing sound to stress him. Sometime you know zebra always like to put their beak between the bars and peck others oh my god, drive me crazy! I want them to be happy not fighting all the time :(

If you want him to be happy and not so lonely, get him a little girl friend to keep him company. Also a little swing. Zebras love to swing. You can even make a swing out of a piece of wood and some twine, he will love it.

Picture looking good. He is a sweety pie :-).

I like your pair of zebras too, they are so cute! I used swing for my otter zebbies, but this one doesn't like to get on it don't know why, every time I put it in, stress him out. I've been offered and put different little boys and girls for him, but he seems pick by others too :( what a poor little birdie.

Lovezebs,,

I can see you have plant inside the cage, what kind of plant you using? Is it real or the fake one, I heard maybe fake plant help them to hide whenever they feel stress or unsafe. I wish can get some plants for my other zebras. Your zebras are sweetie pies too :D

Oh he's adorable!
I love pied zebras, especially the males! My favorite zebra in my flock is a pied. :-)

I agree, I think he needs a girlfriend to keep him company!

Fake plants are a great option for hiding and helping them feel more secure. My guys love them.
You can certainly use real plants too (providing they're a bird safe plant variety) but my guys destroyed them in very short order. LOL

Thank you MiaCarter, I thought it's called calico bird lol. No matter what he's a sweetie pie :) I am going to see what kind of plants I should use for my finches, maybe fake ones better since you said they are easily to destroy them.
