Updated about my new born finches!

Post by David » Mon Sep 29, 2014 10:49 am

Hi everyone, I recently posted a forum about my new born finch babies. Here's the updated pic after few days from last time. They all doing well and was being fed by the daddy, since I separated the hen to the cage next to it b/c her plucking and pulling pin feathers from the babies :( the little 'wees' babies now became louder as day by day lol! Hope you like them too, even they looks so black at this point. :D

They are getting bigger each day now, can't wait to see them growing into fledgling stage and adulthood.

Thank you Sam007 and MiaCarter!

The daddy is really doing a great job by feeding 4 babies and always called me for food whenever almost out of it such as egg food. I don't want to spoil the eggs so only offered very hour or so, beside millets, other veggies and beans etc. :D I am thinking about how the babies will chase the daddy when they fledgling lol! Which will be fun to see too. Poor daddy did a lot of work and I think he looks little skinnier since feeding the babies. I will feeding more extra food to the daddy after the babies growing up.

Thanks Sadie. They are really adorable!

Here are more pic of the 4 baby zebra finches, 2 of them fledged yesterday and 2 just came out of nest today, they even know how to go back to nest already when it was dark :D they are so cute! Very healthy and the daddy did a great job by take care of them!

First bottom pic was from yesterday, only 2 in the nests because the first 2already sit in the corner on bottom of the cage and begging from daddy whenever hungry, lol. Also they seems know my iPad getting too close to them which kind of scared and try to hide from nest when I took this pic, they looks so funny when put their little heads down to avoid my iPad getting too close !

The top pic was from today, which all in nests and one of them stand outside of the nest, I didn't take a closer pic yet since they just came out. You still see the cage bars between from the pic, I will take another better ones tomorrow or next time. :)

Because I really don't wanna stress them out especially just came out from nest and saw the "big monster" -- my ipad :p hope can get a better shot next time when they are exploring the cage, even first pic above with one baby stand outside but still looks stress or shy, other 3 babies even hidden as low as possible from their nests lol! :D :D

I love to see them grow and soon I will hear louder sound when they all begging food from daddy, which will seems like never enough food for these hungry babies! I will work hard by provide more soft food for the daddy of course!

Aw, happy day! Congrats!
How happy for your little ones!
Fledging is always so exciting! I love watching them as they explore the world for the first time.

I had the opportunity to see my first-ever baby's fledging moment; his first trip out of the nest. He stood on the edge, and started calling back and forth with his parents. It was incredible. It was like they were encouraging him. And then, he finally worked up the courage and took a leap over the edge.....and promptly fluttered to the floor and hid in the corner for the rest of the afternoon :?
But nevertheless, it was a really special moment.

I've got three babies who should fledge any day now. I can't wait to get a good look at them, as I've only gotten small peeks here and there!
I saw one peeking out of the nest today, so I know they're oh so close!

I'm so happy your guys made it past the issue with mum plucking them. That's great that daddy was able to handle all the kids like a champ! Yay for daddy bird!
