gomer, thanks for sharing photos of your setup! That is a very professional group of aviaries--I would die to just have some of that! No wonder your birds do so well, they must be very happy.

That's a great set-up Gomer!

I just showed the pictures to my wife. Her reply was "Don't even think about it!"

But I can't stop thinking about it.

Yes Liz I do I use the split ones. They can be risky though it was only a couple of days ago,i found a W/e mask caught in one of those gasses. It survived, luckily it is a rare occurrence, getting there leg bands stuck.
Sounds like you guys over there have to by law close ring them?
Very nice Paul.I bet it would be cold.I could just imagine you sitting in there around the fire place with birds sitting on your shoulder.

I know in the states it is not required by law to band them. Very few finches in stores are banded at all, though most larger species are always banded (like cockatiels and larger hook bills, not parakeets normally though). Not sure about in Canada or the UK though.

No law over here in Canada either. Banding closed or open or not at all is up to the individual breeder.

Beautiful pic, Paul!! Wish I lived beside a river like that!

Gomer
That certantly is the best looking setup for finch's that I have seen, I don't know how you keep up with everything and still work at a job and a wife. You are a very lucky man and I for one feal you have worked very hard to get to that, but its sure been worth it.Good luck with the new aviary's =D>
