Ronivet 12% + Amox

Post by PrettyBird » Sun Oct 05, 2014 8:40 pm

Hi All!
Its sure been a while since I have been on here (hopefully some remember me)
I have a quick question for you.

My white budgie snowy who has been sick now with who knows what for about a year (she was like this when I got her from that breeder/seller)

I have tried everything to get her better (s76, amox, worm away, bayrtil etc) over the time I have had her, and she still hasnt gotten better.

Its been about 6 or so months since I have given her anything (I know I have been a little neglegent, with work and life) She still has the tail bobbing, and throws up her food, or coughs/sneezes or makes a weird duck sound every so often. Otherwise shes always active and singing, which is crazy lol.

Today I got home from work, and thought about her. I HAVENT tried Ronivet, so I decided to order some, which I did today.
I want to try the mixture of giving amox and ronivet as someone told me to try this, which I will be doing.

What is the dosage for this? And for how long? And can it be stored in the fridge or does it have to be mixed fresh daily?

Thanks!
Dee

If she's been sick for over six months, then she may have an allergy to something in her diet. Review what you are feeding her and check for ingredients that may be prone to causing stomach upset and allergies. If she was sick, she would not make it that long. If you still want to try the Ronex and Amoxitex, the bottles give the dosage for finches and large birds. I only mix the two when I have a very sick finch and I don;t want to waste any time to treat them since they go downhill quickly. With your budgie, I'd just do the Ronex first, if anything at this point. If she made is this long, she is probably fine, but sensitive to something. Let us know and Welcome Back!

I was actually thinking the same thing. Its been a year and shes still alive, so maybe its allergies? She was on a seed diet when we first got her for about the first 6 mo or so. She used to throw up whole seed and I would wake up to see her face covered in it. She had tail bobbing and made whats sounds like a rubber duck sound.
As I said I have tried everything to get her better (except the ronivet)

We switched her to harrisons pellets a while back. She no longer throws up, but has all the other symptons as I said above.
I will try the ronivet first then go from there.

Hi Dutch, yes the budgie is an indoor bird. As I said I bought the bird as a baby from a local bird seller/breeder. These were not her birds that she bred, but purchased the clutch from another breeder in a nother town. SO I dont know who the breeder was. The bird was ill/representing the same symtoms from the first week I got her.
I thought I could fix it as I had a bunch of medication on hand from when I kept my gouldians/other finches.
But nope...shes still not better.

I almost started to think maybe shes got faulty genes?
