Waterers made in Western australia stockbrands

These waterers hold three litres.I have put in some stainless mesh to stop drownings of young.These have not been cleaned for over three weeks,as they have virkon s added to them.Also it has rained a couple off times during that time.as you can see the water is still clean.They are on mains pressure but will run on gravity.They are kept off the ground to minimise bugs,mice living under them.

what is the purpose of the virkon s that you use, is it an additive for the birds health or more to keep the water clean

Portland.in between Melbourne and Adelaide.Yes i keep gouldians am actually sending some to Melbourne to someone in a couple of weeks.The grass is a native type of poa.These are only young and still growing.They seed.I grow a heap between the aviary's and pick the seeds.
Virkon s was brought in from England.It is the best virucidal disinfectant in the World,So it says on the label.Kills all bacteria and disease.Stops algae growth in the water.A little dearer than avicleans.
I very rarely touch the floor,and droppings rot away in the sand.occasionally i get a build up in one spot,and pick it up.The covered area is mainly concrete for sweeping.

Spewing!. Thats a little further away then i hoped. goggle maps predicted it would take me 5 hours to drive to Portland from where i live.

My Parents say Portland is beautiful. the closet iv got to there would be Warrnambool.

Do you Ship Finches Gomer??? I saw a Picture you posted of White Breasted Gouldians, do you also breed other mutations???

Only w/b yellows.And w/b normals.I want to get some blues.Don't ship at this stage as I have no need to yet.But may do in the future.

I am Yet to see a Blue Backed Gouldian in Victoria . i have only been to one bird sale and no blues there, only possible split to blues. and no breeders i have meet breed blue goulds, They all seem to have Normals, white breasted, and the Dilute/Yellow Backs. If i ever get Blue Backs, i would like to have BH/PB/BB i love the look of them, but thats way way down the track.

Do you have Bird Sales near you??? Do you sell your finches at bird sales?

Im a little confused, in the last post you said your sending some finches to melbourne. is'nt that shipping??. May i ask what you sell your White Breasted Normals for???

Have you found any problems with just breeding white breasted birds to white breasted seeing as though you have no purple breasted birds??

You don't see many.There was one blue back and a heap of splits at the last mornington sale.
Hamilton,Ararat,Ballarat,MtGambier,Geelong.They are the closest.I sell at Hamilton,And Ararat this year.I dont Know what Im going to next year as I work every second weekend.
My folks are taking them down at Christmas for someone.At the moment I am selling w/b normals,for $100 a pr.You will pick them up cheaper at sales if they are there.
I have a large gene pool with them.I keep normals by themselves.

I was told to go to the Mornington Sale, a fellow breeder i met was going there to sell his products and says it is good.
Could you remember the price of the Blue Back and the Splits???

I find it hard to buy from someone i don't know to well, and havent seen there set up etc.

plus when people say spilt for blue, you never know if they are just saying that to make a quick buck. i would have to meet the breeder and veiw his aviaries befor i brought Blue Backs or Split to Blues.

Next year i will try and get to a few more sales. Geelong would be good, as it takes only an hour to get to, and Ararat is'nt bad either, if i were to purches Gouldians from you, i would'nt mind traveling to Ararat or Geelong rather then Portland.

I am waiting to get the sale dates to see if I am working.Mornington was good.I would be guessing but,I think the one blue was $250.And the splits $150 each bird.I have seen the odd one but have been hesitant to by for the same reasons as you.Besides I have been building stocks of other same priced birds.I have been unlucky with crimsons.Have bought five pair this year.have two left.They have breed though.have three young there at the moment.
Ararat was poor this year.

Did this Poa Grass Grow on your property? or did you accuire it from somewhere?? I looked up Poa, and it seems theres lots of differnet types, do you know the name specificly by any chance????

I wonder if Nurserys would sell these native grasses???

I would be intrested in accuring some.

make sure though that if you go to a plant nursery that you have written down the latin names as well as the common names for any plants you are interested in, can save a lot of confusion

It might be Poa Labillardieri.Not 100% sure I remember there was about four or so Poas.The link mick put on is very good,I will grow some from there in the future.I chose poa because it grows in this district,Is excellent for nesting in,Some birds pull out strands of grass to take to the nest.Not real sure of the nutritional value.I recall its not one of the better ones but about mid range.I got about 600 or so propagated by a nursery from the seed bank,which came from a cemetery.They grow thousands At sea winds nursery.Ph 03 55234896 If you are keen ring them.Ask for Evonyn tell her the ones the finch guy picks up every couple of years,That they propagate for P.A.They are very cheap as they are subsidised.
The area between my aviary's filled a 210L freezer easily with seed heads.
