Facebook groups from the NFSS

Post by TheWhiteFinchAviary » Thu Oct 16, 2014 10:02 pm

Not sure if you've heard yet (or if I've mentioned it yet), but the NFSS has made a number of Facebook groups that are open to the public to join. You can join our main group which is dedicated to ALL finch species, or you can join a specific group focused on a specific species.

The goal behind these groups is to create a place to share knowledge and photos for all species, like with all other finch related groups. The difference is that the NFSS is full of the most knowledgeable people on the planet when it comes to finches with decades of experience. Our groups are also species-focused which is an invaluable resource connecting specific hobbyists to one another. The groups are moderated to take out all of those things we usually can't stand that are found in other groups - fighting, drama, spam, 100s of posts from the same person, rude remarks, political debates (except of course in the political group!), and my personal favorite to hate - when people posts photos of abuse or neglect without any type of reprimand. Please join and ask your friends to join too!!

Thank you for the list! I've been joining a lot of new groups lately (as well as this forum) and I can already tell the legit groups from the unsavory ones, lol.
My profile picture is of Nelly - my very first Zebra Finch who was tame.

Currently own:
6 Zebras
2 Lady Gouldians
2 horses, two dogs :)

Most of these groups with the exception of 4 Scott and I created and oversee as Admins...some like the societies, parrot finches and javas were separate groups that offered to join in with NFSS and come in under the NFSS title. We even have a Zebra one....I kept wanting to add groups so we have quiet an assortment even Dacnis & honeycreepers, songbirds, munia and mannikins, strawberries & goldbreast (a very popular group)....etc. I had fun coming up with banners for each group...it is exciting to see them take off!!

The groups promote the preservation and breeding of these specific species, some we hardly see in the states any longer. The groups provide a network of owners/breeders a chance to share and learn from each other plus connect with other breeders in their area or across the country.

We do provide a friendly atmosphere to share and learn. If you care to join and are on facebook please send in a request and we will gladly add you to the group(s).

Any time Celebrian, Smurf & Sam007!! :D Thank you for joining or at least for showing interest. It goes a long way of helping the ultimate goal of getting these species to thrive more in aviculture & helping hobbyists share knowledge. (We are also suckers for some finch & softbill photos/posts!!)

Be sure to feel free to introduce yourself and post photos of your beautiful birds! :)
