Thanks, they are my first babies in many moons (around 20 yrs). As I mentioned somewhere above, I am as proud of them, as if I laid the eggs myself.

I wish they would remain as tame and unafraid as they have been, but already they are starting to pick up behaviour from the rest of their flight mates. I just loved it when they would snuggle into my hand, but I know it won't last. Ah well, that's the way it goes...

Watched #1 taking his first bath this morning. Really, really cute. It's so much fun watching these little guys trying out these new things.

Happy Birthday Babies, one month today little ones.
Today is one month since babies Gouldians hatched and boy they've sure come a long way from that day.

Right now they're demanding to be fed. I can hear them all the way from the kitchen. They've taken to nibbling on the Socies feet now if they dont feed them quick enough.

I know how you feel! Mine went from easy to wild in a matter of minutes (that's what it felt like). Even my special needs boy turned his tail on me LOL.

Picked up one of the babies today. Had a little snuggle with me, then flew out of my hands and all around the kitchen . Actually had to net him to get him back. Boy he's flying so well now, so I assume the others are as well. All I could think was...WOW! Look at him go...

Isn't it amazing how in one month they have gone from these tiny, blind, pinkies, into real flying birds. Can't wait to see them colour up.

It just floored us how quickly they grow up. You go to bed one night and they go from pinkies to full-plumed fluffers, LOL! It's like a present every day when we look in to see how much they've changed.

Sounds like you have a little speed racer on your hands ;) Can't wait to see what colors yours become!

Toddlers doing very well.
Socies still feeding occasionally, but not as much and not as often. All three kids are now eating and drinking on their own and taking baths along with the Socie elders.

One of the youngsters is sporting what looks like a couple of red pin feathers on his head. The other two have darkish grey heads so far. Will attempt some updated photos.

They are soooo cute! And their coloring is very pretty even though they don't have adult colors. You can see some "rosy" coloring on the chest in some of the photos. Very nice looking babies!!! I know you are a proud grandma!

Thanks. I am a proud Grandma. You are right. The babies are starting to show rosy breasts. A couple are also showing pale yellow/cream tummys, while a third so far appears to have a white belly. Can't figure that one out.

P.S. Could you throw a young Yellow Head Star male into an envelope, and ship him up here to Canada? My Sunny will be waiting with open wings.
