Brooder Temperature

Is there some info about brooder temperature for different age baby Gouldian finches? I've had my brooder on for 1 hour and is obviously probably too hot (98.4F) will have to adjust the lid a little.

I have a wipe warmer that warms up from the top. And would like to get info in advance in case I actually get babies and the parents don't feed them again.

Newly hatched 92-94°F (33.3-34.4 °C)
Older, but still unfeathered 90-92°F (32.2-33.3 °C)
Pin feathers present 85-90°F (29.4-32.2 °C)
Fully feathered 75-80°F (23.9-26.7 °C)
Weaned Room temperature

Also be sure there is enough humidity, about 50%

Be careful using the baby wipes warmers. I use them and notice that they go from too hot to too cold quickly, so I put a temperature gage and check them frequently, if I have hatchlings in there. Once the babies make it past the first week, I move them to a small cage and put them in a nest with a heat lamp over them and a sponge for humidity. Good Luck, but hopefully, the gouldians will take care of their babies next time.

Thank you Debbie! Is easier to lower temps then have it to set up higher.

Re humidity, I ordered the wrong thermometer, In-Out type. And it only reads the indoor humidity, probe doesn't read humidity, just temp ..... Do you think with a small dish full of water it will be ok?

finchmix22, thank you for info! My thermometer has a probe, which will always remain inside the brooder. That will help a lot.

Me too, I hope this time they will feed the babies! At least I am ready this time. Last time I was so clueless but I handfed them for 8 days. That's good for the clueless person I was lol

You can get reptile thermometers that show both temperature and humidity, or you can just use the thermometer. I keep a small cup of water inside the brooder, that is adequate. I keep my brooder lid propped open a bit to regulate the temperature, but you do have to keep an eye on them, they are not consistently the same temperature all day.
