Jarryd, are you running the wire to the ground?I would not recommend it unless 9mm or smaller square.as mice can walk through 12.5mm square wire.If you have not already planed it you could run your left over tin along the front at a minimum height of 400mm.I use 12.5mm wire and have tin 500mm up from the ground.I know you sacrifice viewing but at least the rodents are minimised.the jobs looking good.

are you going to have a safety door on the aviary? most people with aviaries learn the hard way that this is a must have.
Addicted to Finches, yes I do admit it.
I pray they never find a cure.

Sorry for the Delay.

As we all know this time of year gets pretty hectic!

Plans were to have sheet metal on the aviary by now, but with my father being away fishing and then finding out we have a Family Christmas Party this weekend, that has taken prioty, so iv been busy getting ready for that.

We have done some work on the aviary. I had to Buff off all the dirt on the Sheet metal as it was sooooooo hard to clean off, my pop rekons the sheets had been sitting at his property for a loooonnggg time. so that took awhile. they have come up well considering what they first looked like.

Tomorro il attach pics of a befor and after shot.

I also went out at got the wire i need, 5 meter Roll.

and im hoping my pop will have some spare wire up on his property as we need a little more to make the Safety Door.

We would have Screwed on the Sheet Metal today. but it Rained Surprisingly, which im not complaining about cause we sooo need it!

So tomorro plans are for sheet metal to go on. if we have time paint the wire as well.

Il Post more pics soon.

UPDATE!

Painted the Front and some of the Walls

Image

The Sheet Metal Had Dirt that was sooo Hard to Hose/Scrub Off! so we had to Buff the Dirt Off! which put us back a few days.

Image

We Sat the Roof on to see how it looked. We will have a foot over hang at the front. Help Stop Rain etc getting in.

Image

Screwed on the First 2 sheets, we painted these to blend in with our outdoor Area. came up pretty good.

Got the Wire for the Front.

Image

Screwed on the Back Wall. Hoping to Put the Roof on Tomorro. BUT Forcasts say RAIN RAIN RAIN. Even Right through to the weekend, so hopefully tomorro avro it dos'nt rain, and we can get the roof on, then it can rain for the next Week!! i would'nt mind.

After the Roof is on, we will then finish the other side and put the door in.

Then we can level the ground. and start working on the Flooring.

Thats all for the Moment.

I would'nt know where to start if it was'nt for my Dads Help, Im Lucky firstly that my dad is letting me build a 2nd Aviary in the backyard and its a bonus he is helping me build it.

My Dads not a builder by trade. id say his just a handy man. but he calls me the Apprentice lol. Get this for me Get that etc etc. but i don't mind, since soo far he has done a great job with the Aviary.

No rain yet in Melbourne! Very Overcast, it Might Hold off. Fingers Crossed.

And Feather Harp your right, Hoping to get some Goulds in there around Christmas Day. Im waiting on a call this arvo from a friend/breeder of Gouldians. i rang him up 2 days ago asking if he had some White Breasted Goulds for Sale. and i was also after some Red Headed Normal Hens.

So i could have some new Stock by tomorro morning :)

I WILL BE THINKING CHRISTMAS HAS COME EARLY!!!

Jarryd.
