From the time of fledging, their beak immediately starts changing color.
It starts at the base of the beak; you'll notice it's lighter at the base. Gradually, the light color will extend down the beak.
Their beaks seem to color in around the same time their adult plumage finishes coming in.
So perhaps around 8-10 weeks +/-, depending on the individual?
Once the entire beak is orange, it will darken further if it's a male. So the transformation takes a bit longer on the males, it seems.
I enjoy it while they've got a black beak as it's so darn cute! I love the look on the white zebras especially. So pretty.
