Hello, I'm not necessarily new to Zebra Finches, however I am new to breeding them. I have an isabela ( florida fancy ) pied male and paired him with one of my traditionally marked females. They threw 4 babies - 1 traditional, 1 pied isabela, and 2 mystery colored babies. Unfortunately, right after he turned 2 weeks one baby fell the nest and passed away while I was out of town due to getting too cold.
I am pretty positive the color of the dad however I could be wrong and am open to suggestions. My main goal here is to discover the color of my mystery baby for future reference. Also another unfortunate thing is since mom and dad are my foundation birds, I do not know much about their history. Mom I do know comes from traditional parents. However, when it comes to what each parent carries, etc. I am not sure and am still establishing.
I have attached pictures in order to help. One is of Dad. I did not attach one of mom because I already know her color.
Not sure if it makes a difference, but I am not located in the UK. I do apologize for the inconvenience.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Re: Mystery Colors;
The best thing is to just wait for the bird to molt out. I once had a nest from a pair of normal grays, the young seemed all grays like the parents.... finished molting 5 out of 5 turned out to be penguin mutation.
Bird species bred up till now : Zebras, Bengalese, Javas, Diamond doves, Canaries.

I can't help you at all with Zebra mutations, but I wanted to welcome you to the forum! There's lots of good reading at www.finchinfo.com, where you will find many articles on breeding, and especially the Zebra finch. If you put your location in your profile, it makes it easier to answer locale-specific questions later on.

cindy is really good with Zebra mutations. And by the way we say Normal Grey in place of your use of traditional just to cut down on any confusion.
