Female Zebra Finch Making Weird Sounds?
Yesterday one of my female Zebra Finches started making this weird short duck-like noises. the way she makes those sounds like she's chirping BUT SHE'S NOT! she can make the weird noises WHILE CHIRPING. I'm very concerned for her..I can't afford to take her to a vet. I don't even know if they have an avian vet in where I live...she just makes the noises for hours and hours. but she sometimes stops like right now. she's chirping normally in her cage. she makes the weird noises at random times. a few days ago (before this happened) I was at a pet store and saw this thing called "Gravel n' grit" made by Hartz. could it be she has gravel in her crop? I honestly don't know. does anyone know what I should do?

Did the problem with your little hen resolve itself? How is she doing? Are things back to normal, or is she still making funny noises?

Wondering too if this has resolved itself. I did notice that you asked about 'gravel and grit' by Hartz. I've not used this, but usually if it says gravel, it is meant more for birds that swallow their seed whole and need the gravel to help grind the seeds. Finches hull their seed, so they don't need gravel, but I believe they can use grit. To make sure you are getting the proper item, look for oystershell grit. It may have some charcoal added, that is OK, and it is a great source of calcium for your finches.
