Dropping the diet from a very rich high protein diet to a basic "maintenance" type diet could do it.

debbie276....do you have to trigger the molt?

I fed my birds all year the same diet...infact I increased the boiled eggs during winter and they molted just fine..

I don't need to trigger a molt but I know several breeders that do.

Well here they go again! #-o After reading previous comments I guess by dropping the chopped egg to a few times a week may have triggered this molt. Chopped egg everyday isn't to much for them? They get chopped carrots, broccoli, kale, romain etc most everyday. They get millet maybe twice a week. When I chop the eggs I add feather fast f-vite, miracle meal and breeding and molting seed mix.

Should I change anything? Any suggestions welcome.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE.

ranchnanny....I kept the diet the same all year...doubled up on the boiled eggs during winter and all my Goulds molted at the same time....very light molt...if it wasn't for the white pin heads you wouldn't even know they were molting

If your birds are losing too much feathers maybe something is missing in their diet

Usually cutting down on protein triggers a molt so I don't think the egg did it. Mine all molt in the spring when it starts getting warmer. Winter molt may be hard so keep an eye on them and add extra heat if needed.

good luck
