I have a SG pied male that paired up with a red face hen. I then got a a SG hen from Monotwine. It seems that this hen also paired up with my SG pied cock. They have eggs and all 3 are taking turns in incubating the eggs. I just don't know which hen laid the eggs. Pity that finchbreeders database only allow the making up of pairs and not triads.
I also have a SG hen that is chasing the dominant Red face cock around. This is quite strange because this cock used to do the chasing around. This cock has eggs and chicks with another hen. I think that I must remove this hen tomorrow, because when she does not chase the cock, she keeps other parrot finches, cocks and hens away from this cock.
A couple of weeks I ago I gave Monotwine a RFPF hen. This hen was paired up with another bird that was definitely a cock. He flew away and stayed around my aviary for a few days. They both went crazy trying to get to each other, she on the inside and he on the outside. This was solid pairing. A while ago Monotwine told me that she is actually not a hen but a cock!

Re: Parrot finches driving me crazy.
And welcome to crazy Parrot finches. Without DNa tests its always a GAME of patience and calculated guesses.
I have mute cock birds which when paired with tested and proven hens have laid and are now producing wonderful babies.
I have son's that only have eyes for their mother! Gross and kept separated.
The hen I got from you Marius is still up in the air if you look at it visually - but logically it has to be a male. Weird behaviour. I had only two birds in that quarantine cage (both which I thought were hens, but they produced a fertile clutch of eggs which your "hen/cock" is still caring for). The other hen that was in there was DNA tested, so I can only assume the hen was a cock in hen's clothing and its shown no interest in the other male in there now. Neither has my other male shown interest in it.
Some hens can be real feisty and I've got some very chilled males. Depends on their characters.

Re: Parrot finches driving me crazy.
monotwine No, I have quite a lot of parrotfinches. I have about 6 chicks, 3 that are still colouring up and another 3 that now have their adult plumage. .I have another redface hen that I can let you have. That one is part of the triad. I found that my parrotfinch cocks give their babies a lot more cares than the hen. I will in future use that as prove that they are cocks.
