Colt Thank you so much for the tip about the societies!! I wil try that next time

The parents stopped sitting when the oldest had his pin feathers puff out. The other kids have been huddling Big Guy to stay warm, plus I added a heat lamp over then (low setting) and warmed up the room to 74.

Yeah, these parentd are a little silly, see my next post....

Babies learning about walking and getting some time out of their nest in their brand new cage (since Mummy and Daddy started a new family...)

Aww. Poor little tots. Thank goodness their big non flighted Daddy is taking care of them.

I'm trying to remember what all I've tried putting under Societies once the eggs have hatched. I know I've tried a Gouldian chick and they just wouldn't feed it. It was about 1.5-2 weeks old. Most recently I just tried a Star finch I found on the floor of the cage. Thought it was dead but it started wriggling when it warmed up in my hand. Gave it to my best fosters with no prep and their own babies just weaned and the promptly threw the chick out of the nest and went back to sleep.

But they do great with eggs. I've had them foster Zebras, Societies, Owls, Gouldians, Shaft-tails, and possibly a couple of other species. I'm going to try Stars next if my pairs don't get their act together.

from her I have these oldest three, and a BF.Fawn female from another male. I'm going to miss her

So sorry to hear about Cleopatra. Thank goodness you do have babies out of her, so she can live on through them. Her babies are absolutely adorable!

Sally whats nice is that her older daughter that is still with me is going to be the finch i use to help show the little dudes how to eat seed and such; at 2 months, she is my only single female so she and her buddy (my one leg finch, (who is Revlets older brother)) will move into the baby cage soon to show them the ropes
