Are you planning to let them breed? If so, is it easy to separate them out when needed?

I have two very amorous owl finches who have/had a nest, but then one of the male gouldians kicked them out even though there were eggs in the nest. Now he sits on the eggs. So weird. So I put another nest in there and the owls are rebuilding that nest. I may have to separate them if that happens again.

Thanks for asking.

Jeanette now that you have had this cage for a few months, is there anything you would have done different? Why did you do wire instead of Plexiglas? I'm in the process of designing one myself. Thanks. Robin

That looks lovely.

How do you get in there to feed and clean?

Congratulations on new flight and new birds.

That is BEAUTIFUL!! Great job. It looks so good, I can't wait til i have the room to do things like that!! Your new friends are gorgeous too!!! I hope that I can find some Owls & Gouldy's. They are so beautiful. I saw your cage in your car, so I assume you got yours pretty close by. I'll have to do some research to find them in my area. But thank you for sharing the photos. They are lovely!!
(not gunna lie though, i'm a little jealous!!!) Best of luck to you and your new "family"!!!

Yes, I have 9 finches all together (3 gouldians, 2 owls, 2 greenback twinspots and 2 cordon blues). They all get along really well, which is an added bonus. The only "couple" are the owls, and they are frantically trying to build a nest. She lays a lot of eggs, but nothing yet. I'm crossing my fingers though.

Thanks for the complement! I did get them locally, an hour away (from a nice man, George, who is also on the forum). His birds are so beautiful and healthy! I was lucky to have gotten all of them from the same place (no quarentine necessary). Yay!

Take care!

Beautiful set-up and birds! Being able to get all of your birds from 1 breeder is excellent!!!
