Thank you Sen.

We will try and see what we can do :-). It will take time, and I will have to find the right birds. They are quite expensive over here, so.... :-D

The red head/white breast/ yellow back, that is available, is a boy. Jaxom, is a boy as well... so I can't pair them together [-X =))

I will just have to keep looking for the right birds, until I find what I'm looking for.

I would love to see some pictures of your yellows.

Well, you have a strong imagination. Certainly he should pair a female... And I'll upload the yellows later on.
I hope you can get what you want soon :D
By the way,the gouldians are also not cheap in China, the blue-bodied cost morethan 100$ ,get a new one is not easy too .But if we really love it,that's not a problem.

I'm super curious to see whether this little one turns out to be male or female!

I have a theory based on the small amount of Gouldian breeding I've done so far.
The theory: juveniles who fledge with yellow on the belly are males.

The yellow that they fledge with is a female-ish lemon yellow. But then when they moult, it darkens into the mustard yellow that's typical of males.

So I'm curious to see what happens here!
If my theory is correct, your little one will be a male. (Despite the feminine lemon yellow that he currently has.)

Orange head with white chest is one of my favorite combos too.

Goodness, Jaxom makes me smitten!
He's just so darn handsome!
Before I saw Jaxom, I wasn't too keen on orange heads, but he's made me change my mind on them because he's so darn lovely!
Humum to....
13 Zebra Finches....and 2 squeeps!
3 Society Finches
6 Gouldians
1 Weaver
1 Pintail Whydah
2 Cockatiels
2 Parakeets

....along with 1 MinPin, 1 Pug, 1 JRT, 1 Yorkie, 2 Chihuahuas and 15 cats.

Hi Mia.
Thanks for loving Jaxom. He is a sweet little boy, abd he sings all day long to whoever will listen. The juvenile Gouldian boys are singing with him now (or some of them are trying anyway). :-)

Regarding 'Baby white breast', she' a girl (no singing at all).

Hello Sen.
Looking forward to seeing your Yellow beauties.

I will go back to the Pet Shop today and look at those two -rh/wb/yb- males again today . They want $140.00 for all their Gouldians , and you never see any Blues in the Shops.

If you purchase Gouldis from breeders, they range from $75.00 and up.

Regarding my love for my bird hobby..... My Sons, are quite certain that I have gone completely bird crazy 8-} . They complain that we live in a Zoo :-D Just because I have 13 different species of birds, fish, 2 dogs and 2 cats......
My favorite saying, is that: I love all animals, better than I like most people.

I will keep you updated as to what I see at the Pet Shop today (or what I bring home with me) :-).

Have a wonderful day.

Hi Sen.

Check out my new Post -WELL, I WENT TO THE PET SHOP YESTERDAY...-

I would love to get some input from you, about how you would treat this little fellow that I picked up. Do you think he is 'stuck in molt'? Or do you think there is some other problem?

Thank you.

Of course.
Some months ago, I went to the Pet Shop, and saw a stunningly beautiful male Gouldian. I fell in love with him. At the time however, I could not buy him (too poor :-)). The next time I went in, he was gone, and I thought he was sold :-(.

Well, a few days ago, I went back to the Pet Shop, to look at the Yellow back males. I was talking to the Bird Manager of the store, when I happened to look into the back room behind the bird display area (that is usually closed off to the customers) and there he was , in a large cage with a few other birds.

Not stunning anymore, and in terrible shape, but still singing and beautiful to me.

I asked the girl, what happened (?) She said, that this bird and a few others went into a heavy molt, and never came out of their molt properly. The staff at the store apparantly have tried everything, but nothing worked.

I told her, that I wanted him, and after a little bit of haggling, I got him, for two thirds the price they wanted.

My poor little boy, came home with me, and hasn't stopped singing and eating :-).

My question would be, how would you treat a bird in such bad condition? Sorry, the pictures are not good, but you can still see. I would be grateful for any advice.

Elana can you get a front shot on the White-breasted juvenile? It's hard to be sure but that yellow looks a little rich from this angle. If you can get a shot sitting next to Tiny it would be even better because then you can compare tummies. :)

Colt

Sorry Colt, Tiny, is in different accommodations at present with Sharra, and their two fledglings.

Are you thinking BWB, might be a boy? I think it was just the lighting. BWB, hasn't shown any inclination to sing, so I still think it's a girl. Sharra, by the way has quute a dark and bright yellow belly for a female.

lovezebs - I dunno....She could be a boy.
I've got one male juvenile who's been singing since a few days out of the nest. But his brother still doesn't sing! But he's confirmed to be male. (This was my first clutch, born within 1 or 2 days of your first clutch back in Oct, i believe it was? So about 5 mo. old now.)

If she is a boy, it will prove my theory that babies who fledge with yellow bellies are males! I'll be curious to see either way!

@sen-yu-tang -- How terrible that your wife sold your creatures! I would have sold the wife if she sold my animals! (But only after I made her get them back!)

I'm so blessed to be married to a man who loves animals as much as I do! Thank goodness for that!
