Post by metinemre » Thu Mar 26, 2015 3:43 am

Can i keep European gold finch and green singers in a flight cage as a pair of each? (60"x36"x30"h)
2nd candidate would be a pair of long tailed grassfinch with the eu goldfinch pair.
pair of green singers
had to give away everything else due to allergies :(

a bit tight for the goldfinches and greensingers but you could get away with that. the thing is in the breeding season goldies get pretty territorial so.... you could use some fake plants and green stuff to create sort of a separate areas but still you have to keep an eye on them. add different food containers and drinkers so they dont fight for it. if you see lots of aggression between them then you have to move one of the pair.

if i kept goldfinches alone in that size of cage they would be fine right? Cos from what i read everywhere they really need big flights or aviaries.

that size of a cage for a single pair is decent. now it all depends on what your intentions are for the pair.
are u looking to breed them?
are they captivity bred goldfinches?
if you are looking to breed them then the size of the cage is going to depend on the answers. wild captured females are VERY very hard to breed, males are a bit different but still very stressed out when being locked.
no matter what the answer is, try to mimic the nature as much as possible in the cage. lots of green, real or fake plants doesnt matter. something like this
