Pictures of my Fledges
I had some pics of my babies on their first free flight that went off without any injuries or major complications.... So I let them try again last night, and once again...SUCCESS!! the only problem I did have was Baby, she still can't really figure out how to get into the cage, so I needed to catch her and put her in... So some of these you can TELL are from AFTER free fly time, which is why their eyes are rolling in their heads, cuz they are EXHAUSTED!!! Still cute as buttons though!!!!. and delray feel free to take any of these photos as well, If I had instagram, I would put them on, but i don't!!! So please, show my beauties to the finch world!!! MiaCarter, here are the close ups you asked for!! Also, I saw some feathers floating around my room and on the ground... I'm pretty sure they are baby feathers, but I'm not sure if it is from them moulting, or Charlotte (Mommy Dearest) plucking....

Re: Pictures of my Fledges
Arama I know right??? I want to so bad... but ever since I had to catch their mother, she's SUPER freaked out by more (i think even more so, because she really put a LOT of trust in me, landing on a perch i was holding eating out of my hand...then I had to catch her, and ever since then she's more weary, leary, untrusting of me than she's EVER was, even when I brought her home from the store) so I really messed that trust up, but hopefully with some time, and patience I will get it back!!! Anyway, yeah I wanna reach in and pinch their little cheeks or poke their little fluffy bellies, but I can't!!!! lol It's funny cuz i had to catch the baby last night to put her in the cage, and when she was in my palm, I didn't want to put her back, I just wanted to hold her so bad!!! But I knew she was freaked out and TIRED, so I just put her back, but it was hard!!! lol, but THanks Arama

Re: Pictures of my Fledges
Found 2 more, which shows some good coloring on the Fawns, and I just really liked the one where they are on top of the cage and they are ALL looking at me like ..."what's this crazy giant gunna do now????" (Copyrighted to lovezebs as I "borrowed" the "Giant" reference to humans by birds from her, so thanks Elana!!!

Hi Ellen.
They are gorgeous little sweeties. Look at them all. I love the pictures, thanks so much for sharing them with us.
I'm glad to hear that your free flight experiments, are working out well. I'm sure all your feathered kids enjoy their free time

Re: Pictures of my Fledges
lovezebs Thanks!!! I know they do. I just am really excited about getting the kids away from the parent now, cuz lets be real, my parent birds have some bad habits, which I'm sure they picked up from the petstore, or what-have-you. And I feel like once they are away from their parents they will be able to develop their own personalities, and also I feel like they will try more things. Like right now, they only eat what the parents eat... and there are certain things my parent birds won't touch (fruit for example) but I see one or two of the little ones off in a corner trying somehing (like sprouted seed) when the parents aren't paying attention. (it's kinda funny, like they are teenagers sneaking out, or sneaking around..
) but as soon as one of the parents comes over they get away from the new thing they were trying and go back to the millet. So, in closing, I'm really just ranting, and rambling, cuz apparently I needed to!! lol, but I'm hoping once they are away from the 'rents... maybe they will try some more stuff and get to develop their own little personalities, and so far, already they are coming into their own. And I must say this, it is SO Awesome to see them stand up for themselves and it CRACKS me up, cuz they stand up to the mother or father when they start to peck at them, and they peck back lightly, but they stand up real straight, and get skinny, and they move their little head around like a bobbing angry woman (imagine an angry woman on like Jerry Springer moving her head and snapping her finger... ya know?) but they do that little head bob, and open their eyes real wide, and stretch their little bodies up to make them taller, and they look so skinny all stretched out like that, it's ADORABLE, I laugh everytime!!! i love it!!! I'll try to snap a picture of them doing this so that I can share it with all of you, because I KNOW you will all love it too!!! LOL, anyhow. Thanks again, this has been quite an adventure, and I can't wait for the next chapter!! Oh btw anyone have the time table of when their juvenile moult starts? I'm going to keep them through that before letting them go to their forever home because I know with my psycotic-ness, they will get everything they need and then some for their molt, and I've read that it can be stressfull on them. Just wondering if someone could let me know, or send me the link to somewhere that shows me the timetable, I know I've seen it...just not sure where! Thanks everyone! btw
MiaCarter did you get to see these close up photos of the babes?

Hi Ellen.
Had to look up the molting stages for Zebras. Most people seem to agree, that the first molt , starts around 5wks , and is finished between 3-5 months. I hope that helps.
