Picked up this guy today for only $40.
And that's a pet chop price.
If anybody wants one? There is one more left.
So anyone in Calgary wants it, let me know.
I will tell where it is.
I'm pretty sure it's a male?
As hens are greener.
Tomorrow I'm picking up blue canary hen for my silver male.

Re: Saffron Finch
I've always enjoyed the Saffrons. There was one at a local bird mart last year. If it had been a pair I would have been tempted to purchase them, but I've had no luck finding any others locally so there wasn't much point in a single...
Good luck with him. Hopefully you're able to track a hen down if your interested in breeding them.

I friend of mine is breeding Saffrons here in BC. I saw them but was not too impressed. But yours! Wow, that's is a nice bright yellow. Let's see ~10+ hours of drive time to Calgary.
hmm...no not today, but hopefully by this summer. I am definitely going to have another look at my friends saffrons. Are they a species requiring colour food?

Jerry, Congrats on your new bird. He's very attractive!!
I've always liked the look of a saffron, but hesitated to get a pair because they're supposedly aggressive and not compatible with other finches. I'd love to hear about your experience with your saffron. Do you house your saffron with other finches? Has he shown any aggressive tendency?
