Two Blue feathers

Post by kyle » Tue Apr 14, 2015 7:59 pm

Hi all. I noticed two little blue feathers appear overnight on the neck of my 2 month old Gouldian. Is this typical?

Adorable!!! I bet one of our Gouldian breeders can help you with this. What are the parents mutations?

In the picture you have a RH.PB.Green (RedHead.PurpleBreast.Green) male and a RH.WB.Green (RedHead.WhiteBreast.Green) hen

The blue you are seeing is probably just the blue ring around the mask coming in.
Good looking chicks, congratulations =D>

Hi Kyle.
Your babies are gorgeous!
As Debbie mentioned, it looks like the blue ring that frames the face . If you will look at your male, you can see it very clearly. Usually, males have a much brighter ring than females, although some females have a fairly bright ring as well.

Allthough I wouldn't swear to it, (just a guess) that this little one, might be a boy :-).

Ok, I thaught the RH/PB/YB was red head purple brest yellow belly. I guess the last YB refers to the body colour. Just learning this. You guy's are right im sure its a boy he has been singing the last few days and getting better at it.

Isn't the song great? I just got my gouldians this last weekend, and they are really starting to settle in, so they are singing more, and OH what a lovely song they have!!! So happy for you, what fun you have in store, especially getting to watch them color up!!!

If he's singing, than definitely a boy, and a cutie too.
Yes, YB, would mean 'Yellow Body'.
