I would just suggest not advertising him on the computer, that's a very good way to draw attention to something normally nobody would care about.

Maybe I shouldn't have posted it about the bird?
But, what I really wanted to show is that not all
laws and situations are perfect or reasonable.

Ex: A lady I new in Ontario had the same thing happen with a Cardinal. She found it after it hit her window and broke its wing.
Aperently the wing was pretty badly damaged. The bird would never fly again. She called Ontario wildlife and told them about the situation,
And they told her to bring it in and they will EUTHINIZE it for her.
Now there is a beurocrats answer! You be the judge!
She told them to get stuffed! And kept the bird for over eight years!

Oh, I don't agree with the law at all in regards to the small-scale owner of a generally disabled or human-imprinted rescued-as-a-nestling bird. I just worry for your sake, not everyone thinks reasonably. Given the opportunity I would also have kept the bird, no question.

I would do the same as you Jerry (provide a home for an injured AGF), thank you for posting this.
I think most of the people on this list do not wish you or your finch harm in any way but are just concerned for you.

You still don't get it. Any one, anywhere in the world, can send your post to Alberta authorities. The Canadian gov't does not care where the tip comes from, it cares where YOU live. To their thinking the bird could have been injured because someone was trapping them.

The USDA is very much a " survival of the fittest " caretaker. Birds unable to be rehabbed for release into the wild or placed in rescue facilities are euthanized, not given pet homes. And they are required to follow up on any reported violation.

Just the messenger here.

These are very beautiful birds, I have a pair that visits my backyard regularly. They only show up when I buy the expensive wild bird seed.
