Temperature Question

I have the capability of keeping my bird room any temperature that is best. It is a large utility room attached to the house but has it's own heat and air conditioning source. So, I can keep it as warm as I need to without being uncomfortable in the rest of the house. My question is what is the BEST temp for the birds (Gouldian Finches) year round. Should it be 75-80 (F) at all times or should it vary? What do most of you keep the temp? Right now I am keeping it around between 75-77.

Mine live happily at 60f but if you can get 75f ....great ...even better.

Mine get cold and hot weather. During the summer they have been kept outside in the 90's and right now in the garage their in its only in the forties and they are breeding. usuallythough the temp is mostly 60's-70's at night is when it gets down to the 40's. that will be over in a few months.

Gouldians prefer warmer weather, but I think the most important thing is no sudden change in temperature.

I keep my birds around 68-70 degrees with a little fan heater during the winter. In the summer it reaches around 80-82 at the warmest.

I would not let the temp drop below 60 degress.

I too keep my birdroom at 68-70f. I've heard they should not be kept constantly too warm as then you would have 'hot house' birds (ie birds that have to be kept at the higher temps). What's comfortable for you should be comfortable for your birds.

I also have 2 heat lamps on the cage to keep them warm. i think it stays like 10 - 15 degrees higher then the rest of the garage because i have a tarp that hangs around the flight and i can feel the diffrence in temeperatures when i am standing next to the flight so it might actually not be that cold to them just around the flight. The heat lamps are on both on the front of the cage since the other 3 sides are all wood.
