Hi All,
Just wanted to update on everyone. I can't say enough about these societies. They are such a pleasure to watch and take care of. They are always on the move and doing something. They have ate everything I put in the cage. As soon as I set it down they are right there to investigate and try it. They love all kinds of veggies so far. I haven't tried any fruit yet. They also proceeded to take out every peice of nesting material I had in the nest for them. I thought they were adding to it but I looked in one day and it was almost gone? LOL! Anyway, they are now both spending time during the day in the nest. I think they are just resting right now but they sleep on top of it at night. I'm most positive I have a pair as I haven't heard any song from my fawn but she sounds like a cricket when she chirps

I hope soon to see some breeding behavior going on.
As far as my goulds go I think they are definetly starting to molt. I noticed some pin feathers around the neck of the male and they're feathers look a bit ruff so i'm happy it isn't anything else. They seem normal and eating, eating, eating, lol
That's it for now. I've really enjoyed everyone's pics, etc. My daughter just started teething a few weeks ago and hard to get anytime on the computer lately
Talk soon,
Renee

Great to hear your Societies are settling in and I hope your little girl gets over her teething soon.

I'm glad you are enjoying your Societies too.. I love mine.. I haven't offered mine any fruit, so I'm not sure what their reaction may be..
My 'kids' move nesting material around a lot too. They built a nest on a canary cup, then moved it to a large bamboo nest within a day. I now have 2 bamboo nests full..
They did produce one egg in a feed cup and I was ignorant. I took it out and didn't place it in any of the other nests.. I'm learning.. and they are young.
Do you hear a song in the morning from them? I hear it through the house when I place new water in their bath and water cups. Hope that means they are happy..
2 polydactyl Snowflake felines and a new Panther non-poly feline.. Working on building the bloodline of the local Fawn Owls.

LOL, they are my alarm clock!!! Every morning between 7:15 and 7:30, guaranteed to be woken up by the little guys trying to charm the ladies. I enjoy it, the boyfriend moves to the living room, rather grumbly, and goes back to sleep until his scheduled wake up time

Yup, around 7 ish. My husband first told me about it and then I was up the other day and heard him, lol
I know in the shop I got them from the owner has a half an orange in the cages sometimes. The birds seem to really go for that. I get gradification knowing they enjoy whatever I give them and I know it's good for them and makes me want to try new things. I'm like that with people and animals I like when they have a good appetite and try it at least!

Society finches are just great little birds. They are always willing to at least try new things. They are great teacher birds in my aviary. I can always count on them and the red head parrot finches to show all the other birds that what I put out isn't "poison".
