Skye the now 6-week old Purple Grenadier

Post by Sunbay » Mon Jul 20, 2015 7:35 pm

Skye says "Hello!". Doing great. Not as tame now, and I only take her out in a closed room. I have tried putting her in the big aviary, with a PG male. No dice. She was chased and harassed. Pitifully chirping at me, and happily hopped on my finger to be taken out. Back by herself, in a Vision cage in the kitchen.
Her previous roommates, some new, out-of-quarantine Black-Belly fires, have been put in another aviary.
I will put some of the PG babies, that just fledged, in with her, when they are weaned.

Five more PG's fledged, and those SAME parents, back on fertile eggs.....it's raining Purple Grens!

This is such wonderful news, and now you have a proven, good set of parents that raised 5 babies. Skye will probably do well with the other 5 fledges, as she can learn to be a PG from them (or they will all learn together).
3 Purple Grenadiers, 1 Goldbreast + 1 cat.

Yay Skye & Lauren!!! It's hard to believe she's already 6 weeks old! She has come so far in such a short time. You did an amazing job, Lauren :)

So happy to hear that she's doing well. I agree with Sally. I'd put her in with the other kids and she'll get socialized well that way. :)

What a cutie, Lauren.
I'm afraid I hadn't followed her upbringing, was she handraised?

Elana, yes, she was hand-raised. Young, first-time parents had 3 eggs hatch, this was the only one that was alive - so, I pulled her.

Same pair are sitting again, on 3 fertile eggs. They are due to hatch any day now. Keeping a close eye on their behavior. :-)
