Re: Elliot and Olivia
Congratulations on getting new gouldians.
I agree with debbie276 The gouldian in first 2 pictures looks like a female to me as its beak is gray/black, blue mask around head is not as vibrant and there are no long tail feathers. I have never seen a male gouldian with that type of dark beak after coloring out/first molt. Have you ever heard him/her singing or saw him/her dancing?

An orange head male gouldian picture from net. Look at his beak color, bright turquoise blue color around head, and long tail feathers.

From Shirley at the finchfarm.
"I just confirmed with a couple of breeders that this is definitely a male. If you look at the very tip of his beak, you'll see a rosy coloring. Also, the brightness of his head / breast and belly color confirm the male gender.
You've received an incredible Gouldian Dylan... "

Re: Elliot and Olivia
Not sure about the "rosy" comment, all YH gouldians have a yellow tipped beak.
Is his belly as dark yellow as your other males? Have you heard him sing?

Re: Elliot and Olivia
I don't have another male now to compare to, but he seems similar to the male I fostered last year, looking at photos. No song, though. The other male sang constantly.

Oh honey, don't be heart broken.
If they shipped you a guaranteed male, then they need to stand behind their word.
If Elliot, is an Ellen, then get in touch with these people. Maybe they can send you a male at a discount price or something like that. I wish so much that you lived closer, I'd give you one of my young boys. I have an extra red head , and a black head.
I'm posting a picture of Jaxom, and one of Pim. Try to look at colours, beaks and tails, and compare.

Re: Elliot and Olivia
lovezebs Hey Elana
Sigh, my guy - gal, now, it seems - is almost as bright, but her tail's squiggly plumes aren't so long, her bill is a very gray charcoally color, not white with a yellow tip, and her breast is nowhere near as bright as your Jaxom's. She also has much less blue around her neck.
I'm talking with Shirley, I sent some clearer photos and she does think she might have mistakenly sent a female, so I may get a male at a (small) discount. I'm definitely not returning either of these ladies, though, I still love them either way.
If I get another bird, I'm going for a white-breasted orange male.
My Olivia is really poorly colored now that I look at her compared to Ellen, if they're both in fact girls. Is that just individual variation? She's quite subdued color-wise, and her mask as you can see is so much smaller than Ellen's.

I hope that they send you a lovely boy ( just like Pim
)
Regarding Olivia, I would bet, that she's still molting, so it's difficult to say what the end result will be. Remember what some of my kids looked like when they were molting? They looked like absolute ratty nightmares, and she looks a heck of a lot better than they did
.
How long will it take the Finch Farm to ship your boy out? How does it work anyway? Do you get to look at pictures, and pick the bird you want? Or do they pick one for you? I've never ordered any birds, so I have no idea how it works.
I'd love to see more pictures of your new kids.

Well, you were right, Debbie, I do believe it is two hens and with better photos, Shirley at the finch farm also agreed. I will be having a male shipped to me free of charge as a result when it becomes available.

Re: Elliot and Olivia
Glad things worked out for you. A free male is great! Be careful if you are breeding with 2 hens and a male, it's not a very good combination.
