There seems to be a wide range or prices for these cages but I am thinking they are all manufactured by the same place overseas? Are they? Is the quality level of the different sellers the same for these cages?

No telling where they are made. Easy to do so it could be any of a number of Chinese or Asian factories.
I've only seen two that size. There are probably others. There are differences.
The cages Petco used to sell seem to be reasonably well built and finished.
A local pet shop has the same size [and price] cages that are flimsier.

Chances are that any of them will do the job.

This cage:

http://reviews.petco.com/3554/114152/pe ... eviews.htm

is much different then this cage:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Lot-of-4-La ... 1766372255

The ones from ebay are certainly less expensive (i.e CHEAP) but the Petco ones are made of a better quality wire as well , they have an access door at the top rear on the side of the cage. The materials are much better on the Petco. Also, if you watch for sales you can get the Petco ones for between 35-40 dollars and get free shipping.

I bought the cheap Chinese ones a long time ago and eventually phased out all of them for the Petco cages.

Good luck with whichever you decide on.

Rob, I think you are right and that is why I asked the question, I think a lot of the cheap cages are of lower quality.
Is it true that Petco is no longer selling that particular cage, and if so, which company makes a quality 30 18 18?

I'm happy with my Petco sale cages that are 25 inches, and my HQ flight cage, but in the future I may consider a 30 18 18.

I have no idea as the last time I bought them was this spring. It does state they are no longer available so I am not sure. Might ask at your local store and see what they say. It'd be a shame if they stopped selling that cage all together as it's a great size with many purposes.

For those of you with multiple 30 18 18 cages, do you stack them on shelves or what? The cage company actually makes shelves specifically for these cages but there are a lot of poor reviews saving they are flimsy.
There are some good wire shelves around.

I have found that you can put them on shelves, on top of flat top flights, on tables, cabinets, on top of your fridge :-), practically anywhere. Metal shelves are good, if you can find some with enough depth. You can also disassemble them, and make two into one, etc.

The one thing, I would recommend, is if placing them on a metal shelve, or on any surface that is not completely stable, somehiw attach them to a wall, the ceiling, or what not, so that they don't tip over if someone accidentally knocks into them.

Ha,ha, Elana, this is all your fault, you know. The more I thought about your recommendation for the 30 inch cages instead of the 25-26 wide cages I bought, the more I think you are right.

I just ordered a wire metal shelf, it is 5 feet wide, 6 feet tall, and 24 inches deep, it can hold 8 cages that are 30 18 18 if I put two on the top.
It weighs 100 lbs so I wouldn't want it to fall over, I will look into attaching it to the wall. Plus it has casters that have caster brakes on two casters. (I like this, I can move it to sweep underneath).

I have a petco cage at home that size, and I haven't had any problems with it. I was looking at the Prevue one on Amazon, and it looks very similar. I just purchased stackable breeding cages online. They're a little smaller that 30 x 18 x 18, but they should work well for just breeding. I've purchased cages from Petco, Doctors Foster and Smith, and Amazon.

I bought 26 inch cages from Petco and they are very nice, was thinking that maybe a few more inches of space might make a difference so they can fly around a bit more.
I may have located some Petco cages, but if not will probably buy Prevue 30 18 18. I'm going to put my cages on a shelf rather than stack them on each other.

If you're going with Prevue, take a look at the Prevue F030 , I can highly recommend it ( , the voice of temptation).

Lucille

They are wonderful!!!

I am now the proud owner of two of them, and I think I see another one (or maybe two) in my future.

I think a lot of factors go into the choice of cage. First and foremost is the comfort and happiness of the bird, but other factors such as budget and cage care inevitably factor in.
I found a Petco cage and have ordered some Prevue 30 18 18s. (Thank you Rob for taking the time to post links above to the two cages so that I could see the difference between cheap random Ebay cages and the better quality IMHO Petco/Prevue cages)
The box containing the giant wire shelf arrived yesterday and I will put it together today.
