This is very eggciting!
Do we know how many eggs we're sitting on yet?

Well, it's always fun to leave it as a surprise, and count noses (or beaks, rather) when the peak out later on :-).

All the best of luck.

I could be wrong ( I am not an eggspert), but those big air pockets (if I remember right) are not a good sign.

To the best of my recollection, when an egg is ready to hatch, it should be full of baby bird.

However, I hope one of our eggsperts pops in with a more definitive answer for you.

My eggvice, is to always give eggs at least an extra week, just to make sure, as we are never 100% as to when they started to sit tight.

Hard to tell but they look either DIS (dead in shell) or not fertile to me.
Is there any way of candling them to be sure?

Thanks so much everyone for your advice. I removed the eggs & candled them ... clear as you please, so I would think not fertilised.

I now have two very cross/upset birds, but better removed now than left too long to go bad. These were their first ever eggs, so will give them a good break before letting them try again and hopefully we have more success the next time they try. I have since heard it can take quite a few tries to start with before a success?

Thanks again everyone xxx

I'd leave the nest in with them and let them try again, they should start laying new clutch within 7-10 days and make sure to remove all extra nesting material from cage after 1st egg is laid, and give nest loads of privacy, no peaking after 1st egg or paying attention to nest, they start sitting after about 4th egg so count 17 days for estimated hatch date. If you remove nest now there's a high chance they will go into a moult as they tend to do everytime nest is removed.
