Bird Mart In Orlando

Post by finchman » Sat Aug 01, 2015 1:33 pm

Only a week away! Excited to get some birds, Gouldians and maybe GBW. Is anyone else here going? Or know any good finch breeders that will be attending?

Better be the first one at the gate. The nice Gouldians go fast. West Coast Exotic Finches usually have them and are always there. There is also another vendor that always has some nice ones, yellows, blues. Good luck! Let us know what you bring home.

I can tell you there are going to be some really nice Goulds. Yellow with red face , purple breasted in full color. I know, those are- were mine . Just sold 20 beautiful birds ( all parent raised- outdoors in S.Florida ) to Palenzuella . This guy has a selection of birds I have not seen before . So many different finches . He has purchased all remaining Strawberies from Miami Quarantine. Im not sure I can post his phone number openly on this website but if anyone is interested send me a PM . Also if you are looking for some more rare species he may be the guy to go to. He does ship birds.
Also , I hear there is a very large shipment of Gouldians in Miami quarantine , directly from Australia.

I have been a vendor there off and on. You need to get to the gate and stand in line at about 8:30, doors open at 9.

I also heard that Alex with West Coast finches retired.

I have gouldians but will not be attending this show. There are other vendors there that may also have them. I will be doing a 2 day Tampa show, there will be other vendors there with finches as well.

Not sure about the shipment of gouldians out of Australia....there are strict laws about importing or exporting out or into Australia, very protected. I have not heard anything about Australia lifting the ban on exporting. No other organizations have any news regarding this. Australia can not export any native species. Maybe the shipment is coming in from a big breeder in South America or PRico.

There has been a recent shipment from Africa, not sure as to what species were within that one.

No gouldians can be exported out of Australia.
Sounds like a large mart though :)

Spoke to a friend and breeder in Australia... no native birds were/are ever shipped out of Australia. There are no big gouldian breeders there that would be able to supply a mass quantity to be ship. Australia is steadfast in preserving their gouldians and will keep them within their country. My friend is contacting someone he knows to see if anything non-native was shipped out from Australia to Miami.

What is allowed to be shipped out are non-native birds such as Goldfinch and hookbills like ringnecks. If there is a shipment of gouldians in the Miami quarantine then they have come from elsewhere, maybe Brazil or PRico.

I have seen a lots of European Goldfinches yesterday , 100+ birds. Also many other species in large numbers. Strawberies ( 50+ birds ) also but I noticed some of them were cross breed with waxbills. As for Goulds , I was told they are from Australia but who knows. Miami is a bird mecca for sure. I will have to go back today , will take some pics.
