Hey,
I would like to know whether its okay to face the aviary west? The aviary is in a sunny spot and want to place a clear sheet of plastic over the top probably a 1 foot wide so the sun will still penetrate the aviary during the day the aviary size will be about 5ft L x 3 ft w x 5ft D and it will be a suspended aviary.
Thanks
Aviary facing west ok? here in Australia

I agree, the prevailing wind direction is very important. When I built my new aviary I decided to have it facing west (well more WNW) but I have about 1/3 open on the front so the birds can get sun all day but there is enough shade and covered areas for roosting and nesting while it is still sheltered from the wind. The best of both worlds IMO.
