I agree with what franny said.I would have said up to 12mm.The link has good info.

I'm cutting down the bamboo to usable finch diameters as yall suggested.. Placed a couple in my cage and they seem to be happy with them. I'll need to use more when I finally build my aviary, but I have a good supply (culled only one bamboo). I will use the larger ones for plants this Spring as yall suggested.

Sally is going to get the best when I meet her at the Bird mart, but I still have a lot in reserve, still good quality (throwing away the bad ones). If anyone else is interested, let me know.
