My new birds 0 let's call it stress relief for working hard!

Post by williep » Mon Jan 12, 2009 4:21 pm

Since I can't spend the amount of time with my birds I've decided to get some more, as if that makes any sense! I've shuffled my schedule and find I spend more effective time with my birds and noticed an improved quality in their care over the last 3 weeks.

Anyway I've acquire the following birds in these last couple of weeks.

1 Pair Purple Grenadiers (absolutely beautiful)
1 Pair St Helena Waxbills
1 Pair Yellow Stars
9 Fawn Shaftails
1 Pair Gouldians OH WB YB
1 Female All White Shaftail

I will post some pics over the weekend.

great birds you have added, hope all goes well with them

What a wonderful group of finches to add to your collection. I would love to have a pair of Purple Grenadiers...some day.

Thanks for all the comments guys, I'll post some pics over the weekend.

The All white Shaftail kinda looks like an all white Zebra, but you can't miss the "shaft tail (longer part of the tail)" in her.

The grenadiers are really something special, I've always wanted a pair - just hope I have some success breeding them.

They look terrific - congrats again! Nice to see them. Who is the brown hen in the last pic? Cinnamon Star?

They are beautiful. If that is a cinnamon star, it is the first one I have ever seen. It is gorgeous.

The bird on the right in the bottom picture is the Purple Grendadier hen, I believe. What a beautiful pair of birds!

love the grenadiers, every time I see a pic of them all I can think is that I want, must have but then reality kicks in and the lack of $ gets in the way.

Yes Sally is quite right, it is a grenadier hen on the right.

I really hope I can get them to breed successfully for me, but until then I really enjoy them in my collection, they love their live food just like other African finches.

The yellow stars are still fairly young so I hope they will breed next season. As for the goulds, well, I hope I can breed any of my 3 pairs, I feel that that is my biggest short term challenge.
