What Is A Reasonable Price For Diamond Fire Tails ?

Hello Friendly Finchers.

I checked with my Pet Shop today, how much it would cost me to order a pair of Diamond Fire Tails (?)

First of all, they didn't even have them on their breeders listings this time around. The prices however, would be approximately $160.00 per bird (which I could possibly get marginally cheaper, but not by much). This is for the birds only, as the Pet Shop covers the shipping with their other orders.

So, my question is, is this a reasonable price for these birds ? What are the prices for this species around your areas? Or are they even available? No one around here seems to breed them, and the one bird I get to see, is the one lone one in the Pet Shop's aviary, who is not for sale.

Any thoughts ?

I saw them advertised once on Craigslist for $200 per bird, and that is the whole of my experience with them.

lovezebs Are you sure sure you want them? I regard them as less as ideal cage birds. They can be very aggressive. Even in my aviary, the fighting gets a bit too much. Some parents really chase their chicks around very violently when they want to stop feeding them.

I really, really like the looks of them, but will definitely have to do more reading and more thinking, and more listening to people (like you), who actually have them, before I make up my mind on this.

I am even less help. I am sure I say a pair at the birdmart I was at. I know I looked at the price...and well, I forget how much they were. Maybe Kyle will remember, he was there too.

WOW ! $80.00 ?

That's quite a difference from $140.00 each, when and if they are available (which right now they are not) through the pet shop. Or $200.00 per bird, wherever Dylan saw them for sale.

I would possibly consider them, if there was someone breeding them in the area, but apparently there is no one even remotely near here.
