Hi Mary,

Thanks for your comments. My plan with the little kids is to get my DSLR working again and take some very good photos of each of them.

With a bit of luck, I'll have individual shots of each of the bird soon.

Our Finches and our poodle supply me with an never ending amount of therapy for my stress related depression. Sitting there, throwing the ball for the dog while watching the finches is the best thing ever.

And today we had to say bye bye to 9 of our little kids from the last hatching.

We took them down to the local pet store to sell them. It was a rather sad day for us... but we had to do it because we are slowly becoming overrun with Zebs and no matter how much we love them, until we get the new aviary extension built, we can't support a population of more than about 25 birds.

The next step is to band 10 cock and 10 hen birds which will be the ones we keep as our breeding stock and then sell off the rest of them.

I think that it might be better to wait until autumn when they stop breeding before we select the ones we are going to band. That way, we won't have to worry about possibly selling any of our current parent birds.
