Your cage does look really small to me. It's the width that they need not the height. Maybe they were breathing hard from the exercise. If you haven't had them long someone may have done some wing clipping. When my birds were new they lapped the room pretty frantically. I think it was just because of the excitement to be free and fly. Now that they know they are not confined they make short little circle laps near their cage and sit on top of it or perch on the open door. I hung a small swing from the door as well. My cages are square and rectangular so I could set up other areas for them outside the cages. For your cage how about some hanging millet and maybe a bowl of water for a bird bath? They are really lovely birds. I can see how you have fallen in love with them. Be careful about the cat!!!! Cats are so FAST.

Hi Spreckles! :-H

I think I now understand about the cage business. I wonder if I should get another one like that and splice the two together.

I never considered that the breathing might be because of lack of exercise.
Sadly I would not know if wings where clipped or not.

The frantic flying did bother me a little as I thought they will fly into everything including the walls. I reckon I will next time put a little light by the cage, I want them to feel that the cage is where home is.

I will be passing the pet shop this weekend so I will try my luck getting the millet. I see they have pecked at the hanging honey seeded sticks.

They have a nice big bird bath at the bottom of the cage and I think they use it often.

what I really want to do is have the water feeders that way they have nice bath place and clean water for consumption.

I have been giving them grated egg and some veggies and it looks like they are taking a liking for it.

Despite having doors flush with the carpet, the wifey entertained the cat and fed it while I was with the birds and extra security was cover the bottom of the door with a towel. no bad kittehs could get their paws on my birdies. :)

As always thank you for the feedback and advice and sharing knowledge with us. It is valued immensely.

Have a super day. :D
