Scout and Spirit, growing up....

A while ago, I went to see a man about a bird, and came home with two young Gouldian juvies (as yet uncoloured and therefore unknown mysteries)

Well time has moved on, and these two little kids have started colouring up, as they go into their first molt.

Pin cushions, rainbow hedghogs...... whatever you want to call them, here they are.......

As I would expect of Scout, to be the most graceful in posture of the flock, lean and beautiful. And Spirit, turned out appropriately yellow as a flickering light and beacon!

Really breathtaking when I think about it. Made me smile like

Looks like 2 males, Scout a single factor yellow male and Spirit a double factor yellow.

Scout, is a boy and actually not yellow, but a funny pale green (?)
Spirit, is a little girl (she thinks she's a princess, lol

). She started out as almost completely white, and now..... (?)

Why can't things ever be simple

and straightforward, lol???

When they have a purple breast, the single factor or dilute yellow males will be visually that funny green colour. Only when they have a white breast do they appear more yellow.

Sorry, your pic's show up quite a lot of color on Spirit. Thought she was a he. Red headed, purple breasted yellow hen

Scout, was like this, when I first got him

Spirit, has become quite colourful for a girl, especially since she looked like this, when i got her.....

Scout a RH.PB.SF Pastel and Spirit a RH.PB.Pastel
The picture of Spirit sure does look male there but if you look at earlier pictures and the tail feathers I would say hen.
