Babs

Glad that you found something that they like.
So is it a pellet, or a mixture of different stuff?

It's just right for little finches. It has the consistancy of sand. Really teenie bite-sized. Even Bri went crazy for it and she is stuffing her kids with it :)

Brat ignors it.

Of course Brat, would ignore it

If I wanted to feed all my guys on this stuff, I'd have to sell a kidney...... hey, I could sell the one with the golf ball sized stone (that would work for me  ) tee hee hee.....

Glad you're having luck with that stuff. I've tried it with all of my recent finch species, with very mixed results. Most of them wouldn't touch it, but there were a few who did (I have had the same experience with those colored pellets). There was a lady from the manufacturer at the National Bird Show last weekend and she told my mom to sprinkle it in with their other foods (seeds, egg, etc.).

I'm hoping to get them liking it so much I can sprinkle it on boiled egg and transition over to eggs. It is expensive. But the babies need a good start for their molt and Im hoping this is the gateway to it.

NO SELLING KIDNEYS!! :D Thank goodness I dont have enough finches for them to eat it all in a week ;)

I'd say it would take about a month for them to finish off one package, thank goodness.
rcharrod

If they like it let them have it. The ingredients look very good for breeding and molting. This is going to be my first gouldian molt, so I would say I am going a little overboard on making sure they go through it without getting stuck. Lots of egg protein and amino acids :)

@Babs

Are we talking the pellets or the kidneys ??? Buah-ha-ha-ha-hah!!! :YMDEVIL: (steak and kidney pie anyone?)

Your kids will do just fine :-) on their first molt.

Today was the first day they ALL refused their nightly meal. Aunty they are all grown up now :( :) <---- note the mixed emotions there.

Weaned and on their way. Seems I have two males that are now hopping to each other. I will get a video when I can. They are practicing and it looks like a bird game of hop-scotch. So very cute.

They still give me kisses through the cage. Then they flutter off like butterflies. They stay more tame than the societies. They make a point to come right to me when I say **Beep-beep goes the Jeep!!" and give smooochas through the cage bars!

They are beeping along and very happy. Im in LOVE!!!

Babs

They are sweet, aren't they?
I find that the Gouldi and Canary kids that I have handled and fed, do tend to remain more friendly. They are not what I would call tame, but just not as spased out as some other species.

I find them to be curious, and they want to see what you're doing, and come really close to your face to look at you.

Wait, I thought these were still small. They are weaned already?
Post a picture of their backs and we will know immediately if you have a Blue. Blue body are grey in color and not green.

debbie276 LOL Debbie, I know its a lot to keep up with everyone and all these posts. The weaned kids I mentioned above are are from Bri & Audy (normals)

Im working 50 hour weeks all month and mentioned the weaned kids on the wrong thread and threw you off. Sorry honey.

The "blues" (hopefully they are blue) in this thread are about 10-12 days old now and still under the societies butts.

I looked again last night at their nodules and 1 of the three has yellow, the other two are definitely white nodules in the center. I'll get more photos today if "Broody" will move her protective butt off them so I can see them.

Spreckles

Im about off to bed for another *cough* glorious week of work. :YMTONGUE: :YMTONGUE:

I tried, I really tried to get some shots of the babies, but when I tried to lift Broody off the nest, she clenched her talons and took one with her.

Lawd............I promptly put her back down and surrendered #-o

Still two of the three babies had middle white nodes. No yellow in their nodes at all.

See y'all now and then next week!
