Two Tiny Eggs...

Post by lovezebs » Fri Dec 18, 2015 10:33 pm

Hello All.

I noticed that my two little Red Billed Fires, have been acting a little oddly of late.
Orion, chasing everyone away from a little canary nest in the corner. Rowena, spending a lot of time in self same nest.

Soooo, today when both were out and about for a quick mealworm snack, I took the opportunity to do a hasty nest check.

Wouldn't you know it...... two tiny eggs are nestled in there sleeping peacefully :-).

My pair of RB Fires that is in a F030 cage with a pair of Black-crowned Waxbills and a pair of Red-cheeked Cordon Bleus had laid four eggs a while back but never incubated and the eggs appeared to be infertile. They would go in and out of the nest, but stay out at night or for long periods during the day. Now they are sitting tight, always one or the other in the nest, taking turns, but I have no idea if they are sitting on infertile eggs or what. I can't see inside the nest at all. I really didn't think they would breed in this cage with other pairs present, so we'll see what happens.

Sally

Mine are in an F030 community flight as well. It doesn't seem to be deterring anyone from breeding, laying, and hatching babies here there and everywhere.

At the rate all of my kids are breeding and multiplying, I am going to be bursting at the seams here much more quickly than I'd planned #-o .

Need more flights.....need a bird room, need an aviary.....yikes!!!

I guess it is good news......
My kitchen, is starting to remind me of a balloon, lol. Add a little more air, and just a little more air, and just a little more...BANG!!! :)) :)) :)) Major explosion, with dozens of tiny birds going off in all different directions.

Got 2 rooms on the roof and 2 conures and a parrotlet in my room.

Kitchen is a no go zone, or I'd get my cooking rights revoked  although I do use it as an emergency hospital cause of the heat

You are making me count too early on a Saturday morning Kelly girl :-D

Canary 6
Gouldian 11 adults, 3 juvies, 3 nestlings (17)
Parrot Finch 4
Zebra 11 (?)
Society 11 (?)
Shaft Tail 2
Cut Throat 1
Pearl Head Silver Bills 2

Your cutthroat needs a date :p

I just noticed I'm +1 on my zebras as had one hatch in the last few hours - no twins this time though

Congrats on the Fire finch eggs, i wonder if the owls were near the fires nest :)

You've a nice varied collection of birds, it's an addictive hobby, i'm planning on building new cages and re-organising birdroom in a larger room in January
