I hope so too, Stacie.
They go from left to right, then right to left. Then they do a huddle in the middle and get picked up for some individual time sitting in the palm of my hand, with their legs folded properly beneath them. If a leg pops outward, I gently fold it back under into proper position.

We do this several times, then they get some snackage and go for a nap.

This is all done under parental supervision, with parents offering the occasional tweet, when they're not too busy stuffing their own faces with fresh veggies and millet :-).

All three babies are fledged as of today. Legs look very good :-).

When I put my hands in the cage today for clean up, two of the little ones landed on my arm, looking at me expectantly (as In: Hey you, where is our egg snackage ? Are we going to march today?) It was really cute, and I really wish that their trust would last, eventhough I know it won't :-(. It's just such an adorable stage of their life.

Awww they want their coach!!! Soooo cute! Man, I've been working so much I feel like I sneezed, and out popped your fledglings. It happened that fast.

I'd still get them a little scratch and let them step up on your arm a few times a day. Out of the 4 Screaming Avocados, I have one that has remained tame and he ignores the other kid's flighty behavior.

You might end up with one brave one that ignors the rest and wants to hang out with the coach. That would be awesome :)

I only wish !
I've never had that experience. All of them always get flighty within days of fledging.

I think, that if you want them to remain tame, you have to keep them isolated from other birds (and I've never had the heart to do that). They are birds, and belong with their own kind.

This Avocado is bizarre. As soon as Bill or anyone comes near the cage and puts their face to the bars, he just jumps right in your face and gently pecks the top of our nose. He's even nibbled my eyelash through the cage bars. He will step up, and if I open the cage door too long he will fly out to get on me......all the while his siblings flutter around......this one doesnt

He also was the one that missed the mark, and ended up in the dog's mouth, so I have to pet and love him through the bars or the small cage window. He's very insistent on having physical attention.

I'll get a video of him hanging out on Bill's arm and picking at his arm hair. I have a glorious 5 days off after tomorrow. So lots of videos on the horizon over the holidays.

I'm telling Elana, gouldians amaze me at how different their personalities are, compared to my societies.

I'd keep at it every day, there may that one that says "What is wrong with you guys? She's my buddy"

That is just amazing, and so cute, and so unusual.
Maybe something of the dog rubbed off on him, along with the dog drool, lol. He can say to the rest : " I have stared death in the throat, so I know what's dangerous and what's not. And I tell ye, these humans are not dangerous. It's those four legged hairy ones that you have to watch. If they offer you a 'cave' to hide in, fly screaming into the hills. You can't trust them."
