I know, I know..... from my lips to God's ear, right, lol....

As to 'Poor Ricco', he's gotta get together with some Red headed Parrot Finch boys for a few lessons. Brat, would be running screaming for the hills afterwards

Well I just took lunch and for the heck of it looked in the nestbox. looks like Bri laid 3 eggs in there.

The kids fledged the 26th I believe. So that means that those two decided to be dirty birds in the nest right in front of the kids. :-O

Poor children. I'm calling a therapist for them :)] **chuckle**

Are those the kids you've been raising?

Bri's first clutch I raised they are in another cage (when they laid eggs in another nest and left the nest with little ones) Those are the Screaming Avocados (with the tame one)

Bri & Audy are weaning clutch 2 (in the pictures above).

I just looked in Bri & Audy's nest........they are laying clutch 3

Looks like they mated practically on top of the kids early last week (Sunday or Monday) before these little guys fledged on Friday. Good golly.

**edited** Looks like they LITERALLY mated on top of the kids

Sorry, got mixed up between the two pairs. I had Ricco and Brat on my mind. When you mentioned three eggs, I was thinking that they'd laid three eggs. My mistake :-).

This is quite common, this laying eggs while the babies fledge? They are still feeding the youngsters regularly. Kids are already trying the seed and millet.

I think you mentioned in another thread, your gouldian kids actually being in the nest and helping to incubate the next clutch?

Whoohoo, huge congrats!! =D>

Enjoy watching them grow up. I love the fledgling stage, they are still so clueless and curious about everything :)

Babs

Good day :-)
Regarding egg laying when kids are still in the nest, It's not unusual.
Most of my guys will start another clutch right before, or right after the kids fledge.
If I don't want another clutch, I will either remove the nest box right after the kids fledge, or remove eggs and block the nest box, disallowing them access into it.

If you want another clutch, then just let them be. This is a good learning experience for the kids. They learn about egg laying, incubating, hatching , and caring for the hatchlings.

If the parents allow it, the kids will help incubate, and later will even help feed their siblings once they hatch.

Right now as I am typing I can hear them feeding the kids. I am truly hoping they let the kids enjoy the whole process and dont chase them away. <3 I would love for the kids to learn how to raise babies properly. I have 2 blues from Brats abandoned clutch that the societies had to raise. I want to pair one of Brats blues with one of Bri's kids next year.

No worries, tbe Socies, will teach your abandoned youngsters how to raise babies.

I'm dying to see your baby blues all coloured up already. I've got thee juvies (Jaxom and Mirrim's), starting to show a bit of colour, but it's just a bit of pre molt colours (little yellow bellies etc).
