I know I'm not suppose to pick favorites...But...

It is the only one who does not panic when held, she falls asleep in my hands...
I am only keeping 2 babies from this batch, she is deff. one of them.
Love that she closes her eyes when you pet her on the head
I think its a girl, just because it is very quite.
Help me think of a name, on top of her head she has what looks like a White headband

I have favorites in my flock as well. CackJax, KoJax & Ham are my best buddies.

If she's quiet Whisper might be a good name.

Crested zebra finches have bowl haircuts or flat-tops like my Claire and Snickers here, where the feathers grow in a whirl from a center tuft on the top of the birds' head.

However, your little girl isn't crested I'm afraid. It's a dominant but relatively uncommon mutation seen in zebra finches, society finches, and canaries.

Whisper is a cute name.

Don't you mean recessive trait? I had a normal male and crested female society pair which laid 3 clutches of 3 babies. All babies were 100% normal.

Nope, dominant, you just got some bad luck. I recently paired two crested hens to a plain-jane male and all their offspring have been crested. It isn't 100% dominant, you'll get 50% crested and 50% plain with a mixed pair usually.

Ohhhhh, so my female must have been dominant for crest but also carried a recessive gene for normal and since the dad was normal, I got the 50/50 crested-normal and out of bad luck ended up with all non-crested.
