I also know a couple of bird stores that use those screens as safety doors.

I'm glad nothing got into the aviary!!! I've seen cats and dogs both squeeze through spaces smaller than that....it would have been awful

Marius, stuff like that can give us heartfailure. Perhaps we have this wretched wind to thank. Your birds probably felt the gail and thought better of it!
So glad you didn't lose the lot. Hopefully your canary can be found.
Perhaps time to put a spring loaded hinge on the door? My saving grace on my set up. Closes without fail.

monotwine I took away the double door because I want to move the aviary. I am just waiting for a cooler day and then I will do it. Once I have the 2 aviaries next to each other, I will put in a passage that will protect both aviaries.

Double doors are a must. Good luck with the move, again. Shame and in this heat too.
My first double door has spring loaded hinge. So when I enter it closes automatically, but doesn't have the opportunity to squash a bird.
