Unbelievable-- and such a gorgeous bird. I am so sorry, this is just pitiful all of this at once. Saying a prayer for your comfort I can't believe it either. I feel so sad for you my friend. Your so helpful and encouraging to all of us here and there is nothing we can do except pray. I would give a big hug too.

I am so sorry to hear of your Merlin birdy. I lost two birds, one that my cat got one and another little baby who died and none of the other babies or parents would have anything to do with it. It just about broke my heart as I have just started with Gouldians and I can't imagine how heartbroken you were. What happened to him, so u know? I hope you can find another one just like him.

It is heart breaking, especially when it happens so so suddenly. Alive and fine one moment, and then broken and laying dead in my hand.

I think that she must have panicked over something, and smashed herself into something, breaking her back or neck.

It's highly unlikely that I will find another bird like Merlin. Parrot Finches, are hard to come by around here, and I have never seen another one with those colours, other than in pictures.

I am sorry that you had to go through the losses of your birds right at the start of bird keeping.

For some reason, this just hit hard. I think it was the suddenness of this, and the fact that Merlin was so alive and happy that very same day....

If there's birth, there is death. If there is love, there is loss. If there is happiness, there is sorrow....

We have to accept the good and the bad, as they dance through our lives hand in hand.

You're exactly right....the sorrow and loss part really stink. Last night I found more dead owl babies

I found them in the nest last night, and the parents had been sitting, but there were flat and lifeless...there were two of them I think.

So my guess would be, that the parents, were not feeding.

You're probably right...I'm just not having any good luck with them. The other pair has a ton of eggs in their nest, but I rarely see them sit! They're too busy trying to escape anyway.

But the one owl who keeps escaping decided to perch on my son's snake cage yesterday, I did threaten to open the lid if he didn't stop flying away, but that didn't matter. Little stinker!
