Oh my

Post by Dramoth » Sun Jan 17, 2016 11:09 pm

We almost sold (well we are going to sell the finches anyway) what appears to be a gray line CFW or a pied CFW. I thought that he was just going to be another "dirty" white female zeb... but he has started to colour up and is showing the chestnut cheeks and flanks of our other CFWs... but his head and back is the dirty white which confused me.

And here he is...

Gorgeous bird. Very similiar to the zebras sold in the US.

I'm not sure what you are meaning by grey line CFW. Can you explain the genetics more please? Thanks!

You have standard gray zebra's and you have standard fawn zebs... this guy has too much gray on his head and back to be a fawn line...

I am pretty certain that his grandfather was a standard gray zebra and his mum was a pied. His dad is a chestnut flanked white with a bit of gray on his head and back, but no where near as much as this guy has :D

Sweet boy. Is this not something like a light back zebra finch?
That is what it reminded me of, but I don't know Zebra mutations that well.

How is your handsome little boy doing?

How is life in general?

lovezebs

The handsome little boy seems to be enjoying life... flitting around in the aviary with the rest of them. It's a pity that we are going to be selling him along with the rest of them.

As for the rest of life in general... the weather out here combined with the chemo my dad is going through is knocking hell out of him. He tried to do some work yesterday and ended up spending the majority of the day in bed :(

We have my stepsister and her children down here at the moment visiting and just enjoying life...

We are hoping that things will improve as dad gets used to the chemo but we are not going to hold our breath in hope that it does.

Hey Mark

Sad to hear that Dad, is not doing well with the Chemo. When you consider that it's basically pumping poison into a person's system, with the hope that it will kill the cancer, not the patient, it's no wonder that people react so badly. Poor fella.

When you mention the weather, I'm assuming that it's hot. Over here tonight it's snowing, but not really cold.

To bad that you won't be able to take your little gray Zebra with you :-(. Is there no way of shipping him ahead, or sending him with your step sister?
