Video Tame Gouldian-Hammy Time!

Post by Babs _Owner » Mon Jan 18, 2016 7:36 pm

Just a recap on how tame this little lady is. Skip to .46 & 1.16 if you want to see how she follows commands.

Hope she makes y'all smile as much as she makes us smile. <3

I dont think it's about hand signals or ques, I think she is a happy bonded bird that wants to make sure she is close to our hands or faces so she is more open to ques than most finches. Just my 2 cents worth.

I noticed you use those siphon feeders....does it work well? How much seed do they hold?

Im experimenting with them right now. I use a regular feeder too. Problem with these siphon feeders are those pellets in the finch food are clogging them. Im going to have to open up the exit holes more to keep that from happening.

When the seeds are flowing the finches love it. Brat especially is good at working the stuck seeds out. She's a pro. This weekend I will open them up better and see how it goes.

If I can get them to work right, I wont have to blow husks off the finch bowls anymore. And they would really be a time saver, and keep me from throwing out good seed.

I was wondering if the seed would get stuck. I like the fact that it can be mounted outside, and the funnel would keep me from spilling seed. Right now I'm using feeders that are installed inside. It makes it hard to keep from disturbing breeding pairs!

I agree and when you dump the seed bowls out, so much seed gets wasted. Remind me give you an update on how they work after I open the holes up bigger this weekend. I get so forgetful lately. #-o I'll probably work on them on Saturday.

I hope they work when you make the holes bigger!

I actually found some feeders similar to these on the Petco website, but I can't tell if the funnel part is flattened on one side to fit up against the cage better like they ones you have.
