He is fine I guess. He's not calling for Annie as much anymore except in the mornings. I finally removed their nest once I was pretty sure he'd given up on the eggs. None were fertile so I knew he wouldn't stay in there forever, but I wanted him to make that decision. I need to find him a home where he can enjoy being with either another hen or just some other owls like him. I'm sure he's lonely.

I'm selling off the finches little by little. All I have left are societies and my pair of gouldians. I plan to keep Steve, my canary. I just have too much going on with my race training, etc, that I just have not had enough time to care for them the way they should be. I blame myself for Annie. I knew I should have already removed their nest but never "got around to it". I've been trying to sell everything but so far no one has come through. I won't ship.

I feel good for Hoot. He has a new little friend now. Not sure if male or female, though.

I also sold my gouldian pair and all the baby societies. All I have left of little birds are Steve, my canary, and my four original pair of societies plus my four fave babies that came from them, so 12 socies in total. I gave Steve the gouldian's cage since it was the nicest one, and all the socies are in a large community flight cage, NO nests.

Corky, my grey parrot, has made great progress lately with the whole taming thing, but still has a way to go. He will now climb down from his cage and go find me, and I get him to step up from there and take him wherever I'm going to be and let him hang out with me there. He seems content with that. Yesterday I took him to the groomer for his nails, which I thought might be traumatic, but he got over it.

Zoe, the blue throated macaw escape artist extraordinare, having chewed the paint off her powder coated cage, disassembled all doors and anything screwed on, has gotten an upgraded stainless steel fortress mini mansion that we traveled an entire day to get. We put it together yesterday, and she was still enclosed within it this morning, so there is hope. Many days we have found her to have escaped the confines of the old cage, despite chains and padlocks, having released the other birds from their cages, as well.

Never a dull moment.

Gotta love Zoe.
Sounds like an extremely intelligent bird. Have you tried to offer her different kinds of locks and such inside her cage, to keep her active brain occupied? She would probably do well with puzzles too.

Ha, she has lots of puzzles, and it takes her about ten minutes to undo each one of them. She's not a chewer per se. She just wants to disassemble things. Any of you mechanics need anything taken apart, send it over.
