Re: WANTED strawberry finch in Seattle area
There is a bird club in the Seattle area, bird clubs are always a good place to start networking. There is an excellent breeder of Strawberry finches in the Medford, OR area, but she may want you to work on breeding this species, since they aren't readily available. One Strawberry finch will not be happy, you would need either two males or a male/female pair. Barring that, I would say get another waxbill of a passive species to be company for one Strawberry.

Oops, forgot to link the bird club. This is the Cascade Canary Breeders Club, but they have members with finches as well. They also put on an annual show for canaries and finches. Shows are another great place to network.

Haider They have been running about $75 per bird (this was for imported birds). Domestic closed-banded birds should command a bit more.

Thanks Sally!
I saw on the club's website that they don't have any events posted for this year... but I'll email some of the club contacts to get knowing people.

finken They do have monthly meetings, the fourth Sunday of each month, so those are a great way to network. There will also be a bird show at the ASA conference in Port Angeles, WA on April 30. I'll post that on our calendar later. This show is put on by the Lory League and sponsored by NFSS.
